Rules and Regulations

Tank Reservations: Show Competitors please read the following very carefully!

Because of the English style show system we need to know in advance how many koi tanks to set up. Fee for the tanks will be $75.00 for an eight foot tank, $50.00 for a six foot tank.

Point System:

Please use the following system as a guide to determine how many fish can be placed in each tank. Use the following formula:

1.   Multiply the size (1-8) of your fish by the number of fish you are showing in that size.

·        Size 1 =  up to 9”

·        Size 2 = 9” up to 12”

·        Size 3 = 12” up to 15”

·        Size 4 =  15” up to 18”

·        Size 5 =  18” up to 21”

·        Size 6  = 21” up to 24”

·        Size 7 = 24” up to 27”

·        Size 8 – 27” +

2.   Do this calculation for all your koi. For example if you bring one-size 5 = 5 points and two-size 4 = 8 pts, and 3 size 3 = 9 points. If you brought these six fish to the show they would total 5+8+9 = 22 points.

3.   The show guidelines for tank capacity are 25 points for six foot and 40 points for eight foot tanks.

4.   We recommend that unless you have several size 7 or 8 koi that you use the six foot tanks. This is intended to be a guide only.  We will not permit the overcrowding of tanks.

1.   If your fish load is too great for the tanks reserved we will move some of your fish into another tank and charge the standard tank fee.

Once you have determined your tank requirements please call or e-mail Tom Walker at 972-377-6825 or tom_walker@att.net, to reserve your Koi tanks.   We have already received a number of tank reservations and predict a complete sell out of available tank space this year. We would appreciate you sending your tank payments as soon as possible. Deadline for tank reservations will be Monday, May 12, 2008.   Make checks payable to The Dallas Koi Kichi Group (DKK) and mail to The Dallas Koi Kichi Group (DKK), c/o Jennifer Walker, Treasurer, 9654 Dickens Lane, Frisco, TX 75034. This procedure will insure that we have enough tanks set up to handle everyone’s fish.

Fish will be monitored routinely for any problems. Show tank water will be tested for ammonia as needed. All koi show tanks will be covered with netting except during the actual judging. Security will also be provided.
